"The ambition was to make a painting that the professor of fine art could have a conversation with my mum about, and neither of them condescending to each other."
George Shaw (Tate 2011)

After a period of time exploring photographs of my own childhood and unpicking my relationship to my mixed heritage, 2020 dealt some difficult events. When my father became sick, and soon passed away, the following return to my practice was changed. It became impossible to ignore my grief and the loss of my family as I knew it.

My practice continues to be led by the involvement of found family snapshots, however are currently refocused around my dad.
